Mike Schlapkohl —Founder and President of Grand Vision Homes
Mike Schlapkohl was born and raised in Lake Benton, Minnesota. While growing up he had a burning passion for sports with basketball being his utmost favorite. And yes, he is a Minnesota sports fan by default you could say. (We’ll forgive him.)
Mike’s infatuation with home construction began at age 15 where he worked alongside a fellow friend and his construction company for five summers.
Prior to this formative experience, he’d spent three years enhancing the appearance of homes as a production laborer with a hometown landscaping business. The sheer bliss of watching a construction project go from nix to final nail sealed the deal–Mike knew his dream was to build custom homes.
But it wasn’t until later in his adult life that he was given the incredible opportunity to come alongside his father-in-law in his Sioux Falls construction company as a project manager.
During this time, Mike’s knowledge and passion for the building experience flourished. He quickly realized that the relationships he was building in this new calling was nothing to take for granted.
When Mike is away from the office he enjoys traveling with his wife of 15 years and spending time with his three beautiful children, Griffen, Liam, and Tilly. Most of this time is spent watching and mentoring his incredibly talented boys play sports they adore so much.

What We Do
Hello, and welcome to a glimpse of Grand Vision Homes. A familiar face among the Sioux Falls construction community, owner Mike Schlapkohl has been building custom homes for over nine years.
Besides new Sioux Falls construction projects, GVH also contracts to work on additions, bathroom and kitchen remodels, lower level finishes, frankly anything we can do to help our clients.
